High Winds Bring Damage To North Texas

11 Apr

Thunderstorms contained hail and powerful winds in North Texas late Sunday night, and left many damages along the way. There were power outages, broken windows, dented roofs, and trees knocked down. Matt Mosier, meteorologist with the National Weather Service said that winds were from 70 to 80 mph in counties south of Dallas.

Winds got up to 90 mph in Waxahachie. The straight-line winds were what caused their level of damages. A hotel in Wacahachie had its roof and front wall broken off with remnants scattered on the ground. Approxamately 75,000 people had power outages from Sunday night’s storms, said to Megan Wright with energy provider Oncor. It is unsure when everyone’s power will be restored. Though there is a slight chance of storms late on Wednesday night, but otherwise the forecast for the next week contains no rain.
