Protesters Rally in Support of Immigration Reform

Thousands assembled in Austin, Texas at 1:00 p.m. today to protest immigration bills that they don’t agree with and want demolished. A new bill requires officers to check for proof of citizenship if they have have motives a person that is previously suspected of a crime is not a legal immigrant.

Several police chiefs and sheriffs from all over Texas participated in the protest. The crowd rallied from the Waterloo Park in downtown Austin to the Texas Capitol. There are also bills to be presented to Texas lawmakers involving employment, voter ID, and health care. People have traveled from all over the state to participate,  hoping representatives will listen to their message.
