Lara Logan of CBS News Was Attacked and Sexually Assaulted in Egypt

16 Feb

On Feburary 11th in the city’s Tahrir Square, Lara Logan was in Egypt reporting on Hosni Mubarak’s resignation from presidency when the atmosphere took a turn for the worse. Logan, a reporter for CBS, was separated from her news team when a gathering of people CBS described as “whipped into a frenzy” physically and sexually abused Logan.

She was rescued by a gathering of women and about 20 Egyptian soldiers. Then she met up with her news crew, came back to the United States the morning after, and went to the hospital to recover. On Tuesday she was released from the hospital, and returned home with her family. Logan has covered many big stories in unsafe places but has never gone through something like this.
